Now get ready, and make sure to stay tuned till the end, as we dive right into the video. The Last Dodge HELLCAT is Coming With the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, tyres are buried alive. One of the few coupes with a thunderous American-style V-8 under the hood. The most understated model in the Challenger SRT Hellcat line-up produces 717 horsepower from its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine. But there's so much more: this engine's output increases to 797 horsepower in the Hellcat Redeye edition. And the Widebody Jailbreak edition of the Hellcat Redeye, which uses 807 horsepower, is the meanest, nastiest model. All Challenger SRT Hellcats come with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the sole available drivetrain option is rear-wheel drive, which is always ready to shoot smoke plumes from each of its enormous, 12-inch-wide rear tyres. While modified competitors like the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Chevy Camaro ZL1 are more suited for road courses, the SRT Hellcat possesses energy that is surface-ready for a drag strip. A lot of it, too. The Challenger with all-wheel drive and a smaller, V-8-powered engine is examined separately. What's New for 2023 Dodge has made the 807-hp Jailbreak package available on both Redeye and non-Redeye cars in anticipation of the Challenger SRT Hellcat's final model year. A special "Final Call" plaque will be included beneath the hood of every 2023 Challenger to mark the end of production before Dodge transitions to a new line of high-performance vehicles with electrified drivetrains. Pricing and Which One to Buy The Widebody variant is the one we'd pick because it has bigger wheels and tyres and has flared fenders that make it appear cooler. It also handles better. Even though the SRT Hellcat is all about excess, we wouldn't choose the Redeye model, which boosts horsepower to almost 800. In fact, the Redeye wasn't any faster than the ordinary Hellcat during our testing because its tyres couldn't effectively transfer the extra power to the ground. Engine, Transmission, and Performance With the powerful Hellcat engine, the mad scientists at Dodge's SRT lab did a Samuel L. Jackson impression and went completely Old Testament. The Redeye's version produces 797 horsepower, compared to the conventional setup's "only" 717. The 807-hp Super Stock variant has drag racing-specific equipment. The previous Challenger SRT Redeye Widebody we tested sped to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and finished the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds at 125 mph when equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. We've driven a number of Hellcats and, as was to be expected, we never grew weary of drawing energy from the limitless source.
